Meta's AI agent Muse moves into commerce
Meta seems to have found its footing on AI at last. Muse, the company's AI agent, launched recently and pulled 1.8 million iOS downloads in its first 12 days, against 1.3 million for ChatGPT. The agent can research products and shop through apps like Shopify. Meta has also shown off Muse Charm, a small AI gadget for your keyring, shipping in December.
Now Meta is taking the next step and opening Muse up to small businesses. The agent connects to tools like Shopify, Stripe, QuickBooks, Canva and Klaviyo. It uses the company's Instagram analytics, Facebook page and ad account to learn what the business sells and how the brand sounds. The base version is free, with paid plans for anyone who needs more, and for now it's only available in the US and Canada. For smaller businesses, an AI agent could soon take over part of the customer and marketing work, right inside the tools they already use.
